What is a LSPN and What Does it Mean for DIAS Accreditation

A LSPN or Location Specific Practice Number is used by the government to identify practices that provide diagnostic imaging services (including radiation oncology services).

In order to provide Medicare-eligible diagnostic imaging services, practices must be registered with the Department of Human Services who allocate LSPN’s.  An LSPN must be submitted as part of each Medicare claim for diagnostic imaging services.

In order to provide Medicare-eligible diagnostic imaging services, practices must be accredited under the DIAS and have a current, registered LSPN with the Department of Human Services.

Accreditation (DIAS) cannot be granted until a practice has obtained an LSPN from the Department of Human Services.
