What is an LSPN?
The LSPN is a tracking number used by the government to identify practices that provide diagnostic imaging services (including radiation oncology services).
How do Medical Practices Benefit from an LSPN?
For a practice to provide Medicare-eligible diagnostic imaging services, you must be registered with the Department of Human Services who allocate LSPN’s. You will require a current, registered LSPN to become DIAS certified so that the practice can provide Medicare-eligible diagnostic imaging services. This LSPN is then submitted as part of each Medicare claim for diagnostic imaging services so that the benefits are assigned to the correct practice.
Accreditation (DIAS) cannot be granted until a practice has obtained an LSPN from the Department of Human Services.
